HoD building staff observe pen down strike

Published on:

Hundreds of Government employees observed an hour-long pen down strike at the Head of the Departments building in Naya Raipur on Monday to press for their charter of demands.

The employees said they are facing difficulties while doing work due to scorching heat as coolers or air conditioners have not yet been installed in their rooms in the building. During the strike, the employees shouted slogans and staged a demonstration. If their demands were not met, they will be forced to launch an agitation in the days to come, the employees said. The State Government has built a new Head of the Department building in Naya Raipur and has been shifted all its departments to it.

Although, they have brought these matters to the notice of the Naya Raipur Development Authority (NRDA) officials, no steps have been taken yet, the employees alleged. To air their grievances, employees of different departments assembled in front of the Head of the Department building and shouted slogans against the NRDA officials. The employees, however, returned to their seats after the NRDA officers assured them to consider their demands within a week’s time.

The Class III Employees Union leader Bijay Jha, Chandrasekhar Tiwari and others extended their support to the protesting employees and said that the NRDA officials should consider their demands immediately.
