The inauguration of a continuous ambient air monitoring system was the highlight of the Earth Day celebration at Godawari Power & Ispat ltd (GPIl), a Hira Group subsidiary.
Apart from analysing the environment around the premises of a manufacturing unit, this system measures the amount of toxic elements such as sulphur dioxide, carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide and dust particles in the air. Inaugurating the system, GPIl Executive Director Abhishek Agrawal claimed that Hira Group was the first industrial conglomerate to install such a facility in Raipur.
In his speech, Vivek Agrawal (COO, Technical GPIl) emphasized the need to eliminate the use of plastic materials which, he said, had both short and long-term harmful effects. After the inaugural ceremony a tree plantation drive was launched by GPIl’s environment department. Present on the occasion were Anil Shrivastav (DGM-HR), Sanjay Shrivastav (AGM, Enviornment), GS Bansal (DGM, Central Stores) and Manoj Singh (DGM, Marketing).
