High power panel formed to redress cops’ demands

The Chhattisgarh government on Wednesday formed a high-power committee under Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Himanshu Gupta to look into the demands of the kin of lower rank police staff.

On Monday, Director General of Police Ashok Juneja met a delegation of families of the police personnel after they took to streets.

Their main demands are to declare Assistant Police Constables as martyr if killed on duty so that their families benefit from the government schemes, which are at present denied to them.

They also want an end to anomaly in pay, residential quarters at place of posting, hike in allowances while escorting prisoners to courts, weekly day off, leave facilities and related issues.
