High Command to decide Jogi's fate: Baghel

Recommendation letter to expel former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi from the Congress has been handed over to the party high command, said Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief Bhupesh Baghel while addressing a Press conference at party’s State headquarters Congress Bhawan here on Saturday.

A memorandum expressing discontentment for getting the ‘Antagarh audio tapes’ probed by Chief Secretary (CS) was also handed over to the Election Commission of India (ECI), he informed.

“We informed ECI that after withdrawal of Congress official candidate Manturam Pawar’s nomination, we had handed over a similar memorandum on December 8, 2014 to the ECI claiming CM house’s involvement in the entire episode. The audio tapes have also confirmed our suspicion,” pointed Baghel.

Baghel further stated it was also conveyed to ECI that Chief Secretary (CS) was not a technical person. “Since voices of several people are heard in audio tapes so without registering an FIR thorough probe cannot be done in the case,” said he, adding the case should be investigated by any Judge or CBI.

Over Jogi’s expulsion episode, Baghel informed the report of District Congress Committee and proposals of PCC were handed over to disciplinary committee. The final decision over Jogi’s fate would be taken by the party high command, he mentioned.

To a query about Jogi supporters gathering at his residence opposing the PCC’s action, Baghel said he was not aware of the episode and would see it later.

“We do not feel the need for any kind of muscle flexing exercise. Faith of party high command, Congress workers and public is our power,” he said.
