Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Saturday asked people to buy earthen lamps for Diwali so that potters too enjoy prosperity in their lives.
Baghel made the appeal while purchasing earthen lamps, pots, clay idols of Hindu gods, idols of ‘Gwalin’, sweets and firecrackers at Hind Sporting Ground, Lakhe Nagar.
He said people should buy ‘Chhattisgarhi’ products prepared using local materials. This will greatly help the local artisans, an official communication said.
“People need to light up their homes and courtyards by lighting earthen lamps on the occasion of Diwali. The earthen lamps are prepared by local potters with dedication and hard work. They hope to make an earning during Diwali.
"People can bring the ray of light in their lives by purchasing their products. So that they can also celebrate the festival with greater joy."
He said the government was promoting traditional business, handicrafts and art. It is also the responsibility of all to cooperate and promote their business by buying their products.
