Hectic preparations are underway for the conduct of ‘Chaval Utsav’ (Rice festival) and ‘Food and Nutrition Security Week’ next month for effective implementation of the State government’s Food Security law in the district.
This apart, during the ‘Chaval Utsav' those who had not yet applied for renewal of their ration cards would be able to do the same with the application forms being made available from the fair price shops, an official statement issued here on Wednesday stated.
Food Controller Vishwanath Netam informed that under the Chhattisgarh Food Security law 2012, the identified families would be offered food grains from next month.
All the fair price shops in the district would observe ‘Food and Nutrition Security Week’ with the distribution of food grains between September 1 to 7 this year, he said.
Both the appointed Nodal Officer and the members of the Vigilance Committee would be present during ‘Chaval Utsav’. Adequate storage of food grains is being ensured before the conduct of ‘‘Food and Nutrition Security Week’, it added.
