Heavy security for 2nd phase election: DGP

Published on:

Heavy security arrangements have been made for the second phase of Chhattisgarh election on Nov 19, the State Director General of Police Ramniwas said here on Wednesday.

“There is no shortage of police force. Neighbouring States are also extending all their cooperation,” he told reporters here.

“He said the first phase election was complete and there was no pressure on the force to return. They can come back after taking a rest for a day or two. It all depends on them,” he said replying to a question if the forces have been asked to return immediately.

Ramniwas said prior to the election he had sought cooperation from the police chiefs of Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Maharastra and Andhra Pradesh and all of them extended their necessary cooperation.

It may be mentioned that at least 520 companies of forces have arrived in Chhattisgarh for the latest election. No question has been raised by anybody so far on the security arrangement. The main Opposition Congress party has also admitted that the security arrangement made for this election was strong.
