Heavy rainfall likely in parts of Chhattisgarh

Light rains took place in Chhattisgarh's capital Raipur on Tuesday, with the maximum temperature settling at 35.2 degrees Celsius, slightly lower than the previous day. The weather department warned of heavy rains in the state's Central regions on Wednesday. H.P. Chandra, a senior scientist at the Met centre, said intense showers accompanied with thunderstorm and lightning are likely to occur at a few places in the districts of Raipur, Durg and Bilaspur divisions.

“A cyclonic circulation is generated in north-west Bihar and adjoining eastern Uttar Pradesh whereas a trough has formed from northern Punjab to northeast of Bay of Bengal. As a result, heavy rains could occur at one or two places in central Chhattisgarh,” he said.

“A convergence area has formed in Bastar. As a result, gusty winds accompanied with thunderstorm occurred at isolated places in the region. Light to medium rainfall is predicted for the region also on Wednesday," he added.
