'Heavy punishment needed against fake supplements'

Published on:

Heavy punishment is required against those indulging in the nefarious business of manufacturing and selling fake bodybuilding supplements as it is not only waste of  peoples’ money but also put their life at risk,” opined four times 'Mr World', A. Bobby Singh while talking to ‘The Pioneer’ on sidelines of 30th All India Bodybuilding Championship 2015-16 held in Raipur on Saturday. Although, it is very difficult to identify fake bodybuilding supplements, but the government should take some concrete steps and put in place a monitoring process to prohibit selling of fake supplements and its manufacturing by unregistered and unapproved firms, said Singh.

Singh, an employee of North Frontier Railway believes that Government and private sector must step forward in interest of bodybuilding players. Since, prize money in competitions is considerably less as compared to bodybuilding expenses, it becomes very difficult for players to maintain equilibrium between personal and professional life. Meanwhile, he also pointed out that presently, bodybuilders are having numerous opportunities as government and private sector started picking good performers which players of past days didn’t have.

Speaking about shortcuts being opted for by youths for achieving well-sculpted physique, the four times 'Mr World' title holder said (not quoting steroid) shortcuts may cause long-term health complications.

Instead of taking shortcuts, youths and beginners must keep patience and pay attention towards their goal and performance.
