Chhattisgarh Health Minister T.S. Singh Deo on Tuesday urged parents to go for "regular deworming of children" to end worm infection and improve their growth.
He said this to mark the national Deworming Day. He appealed to people to make sure their children get the medicine.
“For the good of your own child, please cooperate with the deworming team and support them. Regular deworming of children/adolescents ends the worm infection and improves their growth,” Singh Deo said in a press release.
Addressing the health officers via video conferencing, he appreciated them for taking the programme very seriously despite the corona pandemic.
National deworming day will kick off on September 23 and conclude on September 30. During this period, about 1.14 crore children and adolescents will be given deworming medicines in Chhattisgarh.
In February this year, about 94 lakh children were fed the deworming medicine, the press release said.
The Deworming day is held twice a year with assistance of the World Health Organization and National Centre for Disease Control and Evidence Action.
