HC refuses stopping 'Vikas Yatra'; hearing after vacations

Published on:

The Special Vacation Court of Chhattisgarh High Court on Wednesday refused stopping the ‘Vikas Yatra’ of the Chhattisgarh government.

However, the hearing on the plea of social activist Dr Ajit Anand Degwekar would be taken up after the summer vacations, the court said.

In the petition, Degwekar pleaded before the court to immediately stop the Vikas Yatra as it was a misuse of public money and the Yatra was not by the Government but by the political party, Bharatiya Janata Party, he said.

Funds from Tribal Welfare and Public Works Department have been transferred for taking out the Yatra with a political motive, he said. Degwekar also charged that the leaders of the political organization including their State President Dharamlal Kaushik had shared the dais and also addressed the programmes several times.

It is a medium to publicize the political party and party had hijacked the programme, he pleaded.Charging that party’s election symbol was used in the programme, Degwekar urged on  immediately stopping the Yatra.

Now the hearings into the matter would be held after the summer vacations.
