A tribal farmer in Chhattisgarh handed over Rs 100 as gift to a surprised Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel in Korba district on Tuesday, saying he had earned Rs 32,000 by selling cow dung and now felt economically independent.
Baghel, on a two-day visit to Korba district, was at Pali-Tanakhar MLA Mohit Ram Kerketta's residence in village Polmi to participate in the 10th day ceremony after the demise of his mother Jugri Bai, said an official communication.
The tribal farmer, Narayan Singh, from the remote village Putta of Pali block, reached the venue.
Thanking the Chief Minister in Chhattisgarhi, he said: “I had earned Rs 32,000 till date by selling cow dung. It is during your rule which gives the feeling that ‘Ram-Rajya’ has arrived in villages. The Godhan Nyay Scheme has proved a boon for the poor. It has become a source of regular earning. So, I want to gift Rs 100 to you.”
Considering his emotional appeal, Baghel accepted the ‘gift’ and thanked the farmer for it.
Narayan Singh pointed that his daily needs are being met through sale of cow dung. There is no need to seek assistance from others for a living.
