For the safety of Rail passengers a General Railway Police thana will start working at Jagdalpur from this financial year itself as the state government has not only given its nod to start it but also approved a set up of 33 staff including Thana In-charge and sub inspectors. Its jurisdiction will be spread in 160 kilometre spanning from Amaguda railway station to Kirandul.

Bastar Superintendent of Police Ajay Yadav wrote a letter to Raipur Railway Police superintendent informing him about the decision to open an RPF Thana in Jagdalpur. Copy of the letter has also been sent to  DRM Waltair Railway division as well as to superintendent of Jagdalpur Railway station. Notably, Jagdalpur-Kirandul section of East Coast Railway is a blue chip zone busy in transportation of the minerals (iron ore) abundantly deposited in Dantewada and Bastar areas. However, due to growing violence of Maoists transportation of minerals is often disrupted besides threat to safety of rail passengers.
