While holding a review meeting with top officials here in the Ministry office at Mahanadi, Bhaban asked the officials to take necessary measures under the Chhattisgarh Food Security Act, 2012.

The Minister directed them to take the help of the Gram Sabha to verify the eligible beneficiary, identify if there was any fake enrolment, and cancel them.

The Minister also discussed on the status of ration cards issued across the State and wanted to know the status of essential food items availability at different fare shops running under the public distribution system.

Checking the stock status of sugar, pulses, grams, salt and other items, the minister also reviewed the availability status of such items for the month of January 2014.

The Minister also took stock of the paddy procurement from farmers, lifting of paddy by the rice millers and the status of the payment so far made. Chhattisgarh is the first state in the country to enact its own Food Security Bill 2012 in December 2012.
