Published on:

The Chhattisgarh Government is now gearing up to put up an elaborate system of ‘Tele Diagnosis’ in a total of 50 panchayats in remote areas of the State for catering to the medical needs of the patients.

The Government , it was learnt,  is on its way to establish a ‘Call Centre’ with an ongoing search for a suitable agency which can deliver seamless ‘Tele Diagnosis’ service to the people of remote regions of  the State. The move is to cater to the patients from the 50 remote panchayats where road connections are severed during the monsoon season, official sources here informed.

It was learnt that the Government would be looking for Call Centre staff who are conversant in local dialects such as Chhattisgarhi, Halbi and Godi to be able to communicate effectively and clearly with the patients.

Interestingly, the para-medical staff posted in the remote regions would be given a ‘diagnosis kit’ which would be used by them to diagnose patients and provide the results to the doctors available at the call centre.

The service being envisaged is in line with the ‘108’ Sanjeevani Ambulance Service  wherein proposed a toll free number ‘104’ would be dialled by the patients for receiving free medical advice from doctors 24 hours, 365 days a year through telephone.

A patient using the proposed ‘104’ service could dial the number and provide details of the symptoms and a doctor would also provide free consultancy over telephone. It was learnt that the Call Centre would also handle queries on serious diseases such as cancer, diabetes and heart problems.

As an extension of the service, the doctors would also provide counsel to people with smoking, alcohol and drug addiction related problems.

Moreover, an entire bouquet of services by experts is being proposed to be provided which includes counsel by even psychiatrists and doctors treating AIDS patients.

The Government also plans to provide counsel on safe delivery and care of infants besides sickle cell and infectious diseases.
