With a view to ensuring proper supply of sand, murram and sandstone for the construction works, being carried out under various Government schemes, the Chhattisgarh Government has issued directives to reserve mines for the purpose.
Additional Chief Secretary, Panchayat and Rural Development Department Vivek Dhand said that instructions in this regard have been issued in reference to the circular issued to all the district Collectors of State earlier by Mineral Resource Department from Mantralaya, an official Press release issued here on Saturday stated.
In the circular issued by the Panchayat and Rural Development Department, it has been stated that in order to meet the demand of minerals for construction works done under various schemes, sufficient number of mines should be reserved in the State. The ‘transit pass’ and ‘pit pass’ should be made available to the Executive Engineer concerned so that the pit pass can be issued to the contractor or Sub-Engineer concerned as soon as a construction is approved, it stated.
The circular issued bears the reference of the circular issued by the Mineral Resource Department on March 6, 2004 that the instructions to make available a required number of mines to the executive engineers of the Rural Engineering Service along with the Transit pass/Pit pass books from Mineral Branch of District Office, has not been complied with.
Owing to which, the required quantity of construction material could not be supplied to the construction sites on time. This is resulting in unnecessary delay in completion of construction works. The district collectors have been directed to take necessary action to reserve the mines and submit the report of the same to State Government within one month.
