Congress member Kawasi lakhma challenged the State Government’s information provided on 201 Anganwadi centers running in rented buildings in Konta development block of Sukma district in the Chhattisgarh Assembly on Thursday. He said: “How are these centers running when most of these villages have been abandoned in the area.”
lakhma demanded for an investigation by the Women and Child Development Minister Ramsheela Sahu who initially assured to look into the matter and later announced for getting an investigation conducted when other Congress members pressed the demand for the same. lakhma had asked about the number of Anganwadi centers running in the Konta development block of Sukma district and how many had their own building and how many were running in rented buildings.
Sahu replied that 360 Anganwadi centers are running at 354 places out of which 145 had their own building while 201 were running in rented buildings. As many as 12 Anganwadi centers were running in other Government buildings while two were running in community buildings.
lakhma challenged the reply while stating that most of the villages in the development block were abandoned then in which buildings were these Anganwadi centers running and asked whether the Minister could provide details of the landlords in whose buildings the centers were running. He demanded for an investigation.
Sahu said that there was no need of any investigation and she would get the matter checked on a written complaint. Congress member Bhupesh Baghel and other Opposition members too demanded for an investigation into the matter following which Sahu announced for an investigation.
