Govt 'snatching' rights of tribals, says Akbar

Former Minister and All India Congress Committee (AICC) member Mohammed Akbar has charged the BJP Government in the  State of snatching the rights of tribals.

The auction price of the tendupatta was more and the Government had declared to procure it only at half of the price received, he said.

Speaking to  reporters here on Friday, Akbar said that the tendupatta of the state is said to be  best of best quality in the country and has earned good response in the auction this year, he informed that the government had declared the support price very less than that of the price they get in auction.

He informed that the average rate per standard bag of tendupatta received in the current year was Rs 5847.

Akbar said the Government had declared of procuring tendupatta standard bag at the rate of Rs 2500 only.

Thus, it is a truth that the government by paying Rs 3347 less is taking away the 57% of the hard earned money of poor tribals, he said.

Citing the figures, Akbar said that the government through auction this year had earned Rs 994 crore while the distribution to the tendupatta pluckers would be only Rs 425 crore.
