Taking note of complaints that admission fees were being charged in some schools, the Chhattisgarh government made it clear on Wednesday that admissions in schools is completely free.
“The Directorate of Public Instructions had issued an order that students will get free admission in all government schools of the state government. The District Education Officers were given the responsibility to ensure this,” an official press release said.
The order said there were complaints that some schools are, however, charging fees in the name of Scouts, Red Cross, school development fund and other heads.
The statement said that currently all educational institutions are closed and therefore no such charge should be taken from students.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, all educational institutions including colleges and universities are shut for students. The state government is yet to decide the opening dates for schools and colleges in Chhattisgarh.
