Govt schools must welcome students leaving private schools: CM Baghel

Published on:

Students dropping out of private schools should be admitted into government schools, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has told the School Education Department, so that their education continues.

This follows reports in sections of the media about students leaving private schools, mainly due to Covid-19, across the state.

A School Education Department communication states that a letter to all District Collectors and District Education Officers (DEOs) has been issued to ensure admission of all students leaving private schools.

The Director, Public Instructions Directorate, has also issued a letter to Collectors and DEOs to enlist all such students who were studying last year in private schools but due to unavoidable circumstances have dropped out.

The letter states that the parents of these students should be contacted and motivated to admit them in the nearest government school.

During the time of admission of these students, their Transfer Certificate or earlier class mark sheet should not be demanded. Based on their age, admission in classes I to 10 should be made, states the letter.

For admission in Class 11, the roll number of Class 10 Board examination will be taken and verified. The same process will apply for Class 12 admission with a rider that the student should have cleared the 10th Board exam a year before.

No TC should be sought for admission in both classes.
