The Chhattisgarh Government will be preparing an ‘Emergency Action Plan’ to provide assistance to farmers hit by scanty rainfall in 70 tehsils of 14 out of 27 districts of the State.
The directives for providing assistance to the farmers were issued by Chief Minister Raman Singh.
In this regard, Chief Secretary Vivek Dhand in a video conference with the divisional commissioners and collectors of 14 affected districts held in the Mantralaya on Monday also reviewed the Kharif crop situation in the affected tehsils.
The Chief Secretary directed to release water for tehsils from irrigation reservoirs where rainfall had been found in the deficit in the range of 50 to 70 per cent.
He also directed that water be released immediately into canals for farmers to use for irrigation purposes in the affected tehsils.
