=leader of Opposition TS Singh Deo (in pic) on Friday charged the State Government that it was not serious towards ensuring safety of women in Chhattisgarh.
He was talking to reporters at the Chhattisgarh Assembly premises on the issue of a suicide reportedly committed by a woman in Rajanandgaon district after being allegedly harassed by her in-laws and the police.
“Such kinds of cases related with woman are of very serious nature,” said Singh Deo, adding that following the rape incident in Delhi last year, stringent laws had been made for the safety of women. However it is a matter of concern that the State Government does not seem to be using the new law for protecting women from being harassed in Chhattisgarh.
