'Govt not bothered about PSC affairs'

Former Chairman of the Chhattisgarh State Finance Commission Virendra Pandey has alleged that the State government is neither bothered about the PSC not about the welfare of its candidates.

‘Instead, the Raman Singh government had made PSC a medium for trying to promote relatives and its favourites in the Commission,’ he said in a press release here on Sunday. Pandey said that the practice of appointment of the relatives and close ones in the PSC must be vehemently opposed . ‘The Chhattisgarh PSC’s  image is of the most controversial Commission in the country and the government should have made active efforts to improve its image. Instead, the government has thought of appointing tainted persons as members in the Commission’, he said.

Pandey alleged that the Raman Singh Government recently appointed a person in the Commission who was an accused in a recruitment irregularities case and whose pension was also stopped by the General Administration Department . ‘The Government instead of taking action against the individual, not only got him pardoned by the Cabinet but also paved the way for his appointment as a member of the Commission,’ he said.

If a person had been in controversy for appointing people for small posts, his appointment to select administrative officers clearly shows the policy of the State Government, Pandey said.
