There is need of developing a Film Development Corporation, Film City and Film Academy to nurture Chhattisgarhi film industry,” said veteran film actor Jitendra Singh here on Tuesday.
Singh, also known as Sabu in famous Chacha Chaudhary serial of a popular TV channel, was in the city to meet astrologer Mukesh Jain.
“The locals must watch Chhattisgarhi movies irrespective of its box-office report to encourage the makers” advised Singh, adding that the State Government should also give all possible assistance in making and publicity of Chhattisgarhi movies.
The Maharashtra Government provides subsidy in making of Marathi movies, priority in shooting and reservation in multiplex theatres to show Marathi movies while Uttar Pradesh Government provides a subsidy of `2 crore in making of Bhojpuri movies as their bid to promote the regional language and local film industry. “The State Government should take such initiatives to nurture Chhattisgarhi film industry. Besides, the Government should invite Bollywood actors to promote archaeological and tourist destinations of the State” said Singh.
He added that there were many tourist attraction centres in Chhattisgarh, which were worth watching and are also ideal for film shooting.Singh, who is basically a theatre artist, has so far worked in famous TV serials including Har Har Mahadev, Shakalaka Boom Boom, Shaktiman, Hatimtai, Alif leila, Jeannie aur Juju, Gautam Buddha and Jai Bajarngbali.Singh has also worked with known South Indian film stars including Mohan Babu, Akash, Shobhraj and Nasir in many Tamil, Telugu and Kannada movies.
