Govt, Ministers manipulated students' union poll results, alleges NSUI

The ruling BJP Government in Chhattisgarh with its Ministers and Government machinery openly interfered in the students’ union election and manipulated the results to great extent, alleged NSUI National Secretary Devendra Yadav.

Interacting with media on Thursday at Congress Bhawan here, Yadav charged that after getting winning certificate, NSUI candidates in Durg district were picked up by police and eventually the results changed following recounting process.

“Moreover, in private colleges, owners and management were spotted appealing to vote for candidates backed by the Government.”

“The State Government has made a dual approach during the entire election process,” NSUI State President Akash Sharma alleged. “While Government machinery is carrying out recounting at institutes where NSUI candidates registered victory the recounting demand was however overlooked at institutes where the organisation’s candidates suffered blow,” he claimed.

“Apart from that, massive attempts were made to purchase NSUI candidates during ongoing election even as parents of some candidates and voters were threatened by people in power,” charged President of District Congress (Urban) Vikas Upadhyay.

“A probe must be ordered to look into mishandling attitude from part of institutes’ managements and others, said Upadhyay.
