'Govt might use outsourced teachers as polling agents'

Published on:

Continuing his attack on the ruling BJP Government over the issue of outsourcing teachers, former Congress MlA Mohammed Akbar alleged that by recruiting these teachers through placement agencies, the State Government might be planning to use them as ‘polling agents’ during election.

Terming the format of contract being prepared for placement agencies as ‘illegal’, Akbar said the contract to be signed between the State Government and placement agencies is illegal because it didn’t have a time-limit.

Interacting with media persons on Tuesday, he said the contract which lacks specific time-limit is termed as illegal and time duration must be mandatorily specified in the contract. As per the proposed contract, the State government is proposing to provide teaching service in areas of Bastar and Surguja through outsourcing as an alternate and temporary measure for a limited period till the State is able to recruit teachers in these areas through their regular process, which lack specific time-limit.

He further pointed out that as per Section 29 of The Indian Contract Act-1872, agreements, the meaning of which is not certain, or capable of being made certain,

are void.
