Congress State unit president Bhupesh Baghel alleged on Sunday said that to hush up its carelessness and corruption in the paddy procurement, the BJP Government has left lakhs of tonnes of paddy in the open, which got wet and damaged.
“The Government has made paddy procurement as the source of corruption. Every year paddy is purchased on support price, even then, no arrangement has been made for its storage, and no policy for it has been made, during the period of a decade,'' Baghel was quoted in a press statement. He alleged that the government, in the name of paddy purchase, is engrossed in fake purchase on paper only.
He further alleged, “to maintain the record on paper, a planned conspiracy has been made to keep the purchased paddy in the open and shows other means of losses. The cultivable area in the state has been decreased, but, every year, the production is increased magically”. In fact, paddy production in Chhattisgarh has been decreased by 25 per cent this year, even then, procurement has been increased in the record of the Government.
