Govt in no mood to let tainted docs off the hook

The State Government is no mood to give relaxation to the seven tainted doctors who removed uterus of several women allegedly on pretext of cancer to grab their Smart Card money.

After the High Court’s order, the Government will give them opportunity to present their views and thereafter initiate the action of suspension of their registration afresh.

Notably, against the suspension of their registration by the state government these doctors had filed a petition in the Chhattisgarh High Court alleging that the state government had suspended their registration for a year without listening to their plea even when they were not held guilty in the probe report.

On Friday, the single bench of Justice Satish Agnihotri had ordered the State Government to take any action only after giving opportunity to present their side, therefore, now the government will give them opportunity and then initiate action afresh, highly placed sources in the health department said. Sources in the health department claimed that earlier too the government had listened their views and only after receiving the report of the probe panel and taking due consideration of evidences their registrations were suspended for a year.

Doctors whose registration has been suspended for a year comprise Dr Prajjwal Soni, Dr Jyoti Dubey, Dr Soni V Jain, Dr Nalini Madhariya, Dr Nitin Jain, Dr Pankaj Jaiswal and Dr Mohini Indnani. The probe conducted by a panel of experts found that in nursing homes of these doctors unusually large number of uterus removal operations was performed.

According to sources, uterus of even young ladies was removed allegedly by showing the patients danger of cancer just to swallow their smart card money.

In the initial stage, action was taken against nine doctors, but against two doctors no solid evidence was found and they were subsequently let off. Maximum number of uterus removal operations was done by these seven doctors which put the State Government health scheme in a very poor light and therefore the Government is no mood to let them go so easily.
