The Chhattisgarh Government on Thursday hiked the monthly honorarium (Samman Rashi) for ‘Manjhi’ and ‘Chalaki’ of famous Bastar Dussehra by 35 per cent.
This hiked amount of honorarium will be payable from current financial year only.
Religious Trust and Endowment Minister Brijmohan Agrawal informed that presently 'Manjhi' are receiving Rs1000 as monthly honorarium, which has now been hiked to Rs1350.
likewise, 'Chalaki' have been receiving Rs500 as monthly honorarium, which has been hiked to Rs675.
Agrawal informed that these hiked amounts of honorarium will be payable from current fiscal year itself. It is noteworthy that 'manjhi' and 'chalaki' are the persons who actively participate and perform the rituals of world famous Bastar Dussehra.
