State Government has decided to recruit lecturers on contractual basis for subjects including English, mathematics, physics, chemistry, zoology, Sanskrit and commerce, against the vacancies in Government High Schools and Higher Secondary Schools in upcoming academic session.

Only the retired teachers of Government schools will be appointed on these posts on contractual basis. School Education Department has released orders in this context from the State Mantralaya (Mahanadi Bhavan) recently.

In the orders, District Education Officers (DEOs) have been given detailed guidelines regarding contractual appointment of lecturers. As the vacancies in Government High Schools and Higher Secondary Schools on posts of lecturers for subjects- English, mathematics, physics, chemistry, zoology, Sanskrit and commerce could not be filled earlier, due to shortage of eligible candidates, State Government has taken this decision of recruiting retired lecturers of government schools on contractual basis, in larger interest of the students.  All the DEOs have been authorized to invite applications for contractual lecturers for aforementioned subjects only.

DEOs will have to scrutinize the applications received, before forwarding it to Commissioner, Director of Public Instructions. These contractual appointments will be done under the provisions of Chhattisgarh Civil Service Contractual Appointment Rule 2012, as per General Administration Department's order dated 17th January 2013. The contract will be valid for one academic session i.e. 16 June 2013 to 30 April 2014. The contract period can be extended as per the government norms, in case the performance of the candidate is found satisfactory during the first contract period.
