Govt failed to deposit 28L tonnes rice in FCI: BJP

Published on:

BJP leader and Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Dharamlal Kaushik on Thursday said the Chhattisgarh government   did not deposit 28 lakh tonnes of rice in the FCI despite getting permission from the Centre.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Agriculture Minister Ravindra Choubey are openly intent on cheating the farmers by lying, he said.

Kaushik said that paddy procurement is being stopped in the entire state today due to the wrong intention and policy of the state government.

He said the government failed to deposit 28 lakh tonnes of rice with FCI           by September 30 as per        the Centre's permission last year.

After September, the  government asked time till October and then November, now it is again asking time until December, he added.

Kaushik said there is still space to keep 6 lakh tonnes of rice in FCI’s warehouse but the government has started a hue and cry over the timing to deposit rice.
