Govt extra land move to win poll: Cong

The Chhattisgarh Government is going to distribute about 2.39 lakh extra land ‘pattas’ than the actual number of families living in Chhattisgarh just in a desperate attempt to win 2018 Assembly polls alleged senior said former MlA and senior Congress leader Mohammed Akbar while addressing a press conference here on Thursday.

Akbar while presenting the copies of circular signed by Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management Department said that State Government on May 23, 2016 had published an advertisement according to which 56 lakh people living in rural pockets of the State were to be provided with ‘populated land pattas’. One month later, a circular was released by the State Government which mentioned about distribution of land pattas under ‘Mukhyamantri Aabadi Patta’ scheme, he said. According to the census data of 2011, Chhattisgarh has 56.50 lakh families out of which 23.24 per cent (which is 13.13 lakhs) are in urban region while 76.76 per cent (that is around 43.33 lakhs)are living in rural areas, he said.  “The ruling BJP Government in the State is going to distribute 45.76 lakh ‘pattas’ in rural areas which means 2.39 lakh excess pattas would be distributed than the actual numbers of families living in State,” Akbar claimed.

According to Akbar, previous Governments from time to time had distributed pattas to the residents of the State either directly on under various schemes like Indira Awas Yojana.

“However, if the State Government is to be believed then there are 46 lakh rural people living illegally in the StateIJ” Akbar questioned.

State Congress Chief Bhupesh Baghel who was also present at the press conference provided a deadline of 24 hours for arresting the culprits behind the brutal murder the mother of former Congress MlA Shiv Daharia and shoot out near   Ramkrishna Care Hospital or else a Raipur bandh would be called by the party on Saturday, he said.
