The efforts of the BJP and Narendra Modi to get the prime minister post will neither be fulfilled, nor the party can unfurl the tricolor on the Red Fort. Now, the BJP leaders understood this fact, but to fulfill the childish stubbornness of Narendra Modi, the party is constructing a duplicate ‘lal Qila’ in Ambikapur, say state Congress leaders.
In a party joint press statement issued here on Friday, state Congress programme coordinator Bhupesh Baghel, ex-minister Satyanarayan Sharma, former state president Dhanendra Sahu, vice-president TS Singhdeo, general secretaries Premsai Singh and Ramlal Bharadwaj and chairman of Congress Media department Shailendra Nitin Trivedi said that to fulfil the ‘royal’ dream of Modi, the BJP government in the state has been spending crores of hard-earned money of the people.
The Congress leaders said that the Pandal on the PG college ground for the conclusion of the Vikas Yatra, being constructed through a private company was akin to that of the Red Fort. To make the Pandal waterproof, its dome is being prepared with iron sheets, instead of cloth, they alleged.
The leaders alleged that to make this programme historic, the BJP government has engaged all the government machinery and personnel in the work. The construction work of the pandal costing around Rs 2 crore has been done under strict security arrangement. For the VIP security around 1,500 police officers and personnel have been deployed, they added.
The Congress alleged that the Vikas Yatra has become ‘bloody’ yatra, as every day people die in the yatra. In the Parivartan Yatra of the Congress, party leaders had become martyrs due to attack by alleged naxalites supported by the BJP government, but in the Vikas Yatra, people, who were compelled by the government personnel to attend the yatra were dying, they added.
They said that the BJP government would have to pay the price of the death of a woman during the preparation of the concluding function of the Vikas Yatra. The Congress leaders demanded that the incident of the death of a woman in Ambikapur should be probed and strict action should be taken against the guilty.
The Congress leaders said that during transportation of people for the valedictory function of the Vikas Yatra, two people were died in Korea district as the tractor trolley in which they were travelling turned turtle, 1 died and two persons suffered serious injuries in Surajpur, that too because of the tractor trolley overturned.
