Govt committing anomalies in transfer of officials: Cong

The State Congress on Wednesday accused the BJP Government of committing anomalies in the transfer of officers and employees across the State, in order to influence the election.

State Congress spokesperson Sushil Anand Shukla said that the Election Commission had made it clear that the officers and employees posted at a place for more than three years would be transferred, as there were possibility that they might influence the impartial election.

Shukla alleged that the BJP Government, in view of its impending defeat in the forthcoming election and with an objective to influence the election, was searching ways to save such officers from transfer. It was adopting unconstitutional ways to escape from the transfer rules of the election commission by giving new postings and responsibilities to officers in other departments in the same district, he said.

Shukla said that the Congress would make complaint against this decision of the Government to the Election Commission and demand from the commission to transfer such officers, who have been posted in the same district for more than three years, compulsorily to other districts.

Besides, the party would also request the commission to change charges of all the officers posted in the secretariat and police headquarters until the election, as doubt would remain in the impartial discharge of their present responsibilities, he said. He said that the present posting and place of officers of such departments, like transport, PWD and health, which were not directly linked with law and order but have important role in the election work, should have been changed before the election.
