District Collector Satya Narayan Rathor on Sunday discussed ways to promote the Amritdhara, a natural waterfall located in Korea district in the northern part of Chhattisgarh.

Holding a review meeting, the Collector asked officials from different departments to take up the renovation of cottages for tourists' stay, ensuring power supply and extending canteen facilities at the earliest.

He directed the officials to fix the rate for stay so that online booking facilities can be extended to the tourists. He told them to raze the old buildings near the Rest House, according to an official statement.

The Public Health Engineering department was told to install water supply in the cottages. To ensure security, deployment of Forest Guards and Constables was ordered.

Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) will come up to monitor the cleanliness. The other works suggested were fixing entertainment equipment for children, cleanliness of public comfort stations, installing sign boards, painting of main gate and beautification of the spot by plantation, said the statement.

The Amritdhara waterfall, in Manendragarh block, originates from Hasdeo river, a tributary of the Mahanadi. The water falls from a height of 90 feet.

In 1936, the then King of Korea state, Ramanuj Pratap Singh Judeo, started a fair on Maha Shivaratri, giving importance to a Shiv temple located nearby. It continues to be held till date, with lakhs of devotees visiting the temple on Maha Shivaratri.

The officials were told to put up railing at the Tourism Information Centre and near the waterfall for the safety of the public.
