Under the project ‘Unnati’, six Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGA) workers of Chhattisgarh will be felicitated by the Union Ministry of Rural Development on March 24.
These workers have transformed their lives under the project with skill development training and started their own businesses, an official communication said on Wednesday.
Union Minister of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Giriraj Singh will felicitate the workers in a programme in New Delhi.
A total of 75 such workers from across the country will be honoured under the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’.
The six from Chhattisgarh are Dhamtari’s Neetu Bai Sahu (mushroom production) and Phoolwanti Kanwar (candle making), Gariaband's Geetanjali Dhruv and Omeshwari Kanwar (tailoring), Korea's Krishna Kumar (goat rearing) and Mahasamund's Bimal Sao (mobile repair).
All of them were imparted skill development training under the project ‘Unnati’ at the Rural Self-Employment Training Institute (R-SETI) in their respective districts.
Under the project, training is provided for self-employment to any one member of the family between 18 and 45 years of age and who has done 100 days of employment in the financial year 2018-19.
