Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Sunday said the Godhan Nyay Yojana has become a medium of social and economic change in villages.
He was addressing the public in village Math in Dharsiwa Assembly constituency of Raipur district. He said under the scheme, 1 lakh quintals of cow dung were purchased from vendors. A total of Rs 201 crore was paid to them. It has helped deploy 80,000 women for converting cow dung to vermicompost.
The government has made schemes for all sections. It started with the loan waiver for farmers, procurement of paddy and millets at support price. Now, Chhattisgarh ranks after Punjab in paddy procurement with 103 lakh tonnes, he said.
Baghel said the state wants to convert paddy into ethanol. The Central government is yet to give a nod to it. Ethanol from sugarcane is to start production at Kawardha. Also, a maize-to-ethanol plant will begin at Kondagaon in June.
