At least three global consulting firms namely Ernst & Young, PricehouseWaterhouse Coopers and KPMG have evinced keen interest in providing consultancy to the Chhattisgarh Government.
Chhattisgarh will be the first State in the country to be seeking help of a global consulting firm for not just to prepare and assist with execution of Government schemes but also providing a ‘dash board view’ on what the Government should be doing for ensuring holistic development of the State, Aman Singh, Principal Secretary, IT, Energy and Public Relations and Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Raman Singh informed The Pioneer.
‘It would be the State Government which will select the experts from the Consultancy firm which is chosen for the task. The firm will also act as a ‘think tank’ on providing consultancy to the Government, he said.
The process of selection of the firm is underway through a tendering process , Singh said.
The firm will work under Chhattisgarh Infotech & Biotech Promotion Society (CHiPS), a State Government agency which had been involved in preparation and execution of several hi-tech IT and other projects in Chhattisgarh since its inception.
The tenders for selecting consulting firm were floated before the parliamentary polls and the process was halted due to enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct. The process is likely to be completed and the contract will be inked by the month end.
The State Government had held the Global Investors Meet in 2012 which had received tremendous response. MoUs to the tune of hundreds of crores were signed during the Meet.
Since industrial development is top priority of the State Government , it will take services from the selected firm also in this regard.
