Give priority to medical aspirants from C’garh on management quota

nThe Head of Hospital Board of Raipur has demanded the immediate intervention from the Chhattisgarh government in admission on MBBS management quota seats in private colleges.

Dr Rakesh Gupta, also a Congress leader, wrote a letter to Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Wednesday regarding what he said was a biased attitude of private medical college administrations on allotment of MBBS management quota seats.

He alleged that while making allotment of MBBS management quota seats, private medical colleges administration deliberately provides medical quota seats to medical aspirants from outside the state.

“This is harming the interests of meritorious students from Chhattisgarh and compelling them to take admission in private medical colleges (of other states),” he said.

He demanded admission for Chhattisgarh students on the basis of their NEET ranking.

The biased way is also a wastage of resources of the state, Dr Gupta added.

In Chhattisgarh, the doctor-public ratio is 1: 15,900 which ideally should be 1:1000. The government’s intervention will help in improving the situation in the state, said Dr. Gupta.
