Anganwadi children and pregnant women should receive full benefit of Government schemes so that the Government objective of total eradication of malnutrition can be achieved.

These directives were issued by Woman and Child Development and Social Welfare Minister Ramsheela Sahu at the review meeting of the Department here on Wednesday. Adolescent girls should also get encouragement from the benefits of the schemes that can enable them in leading a better life in future, she said.

While expressing satisfaction in the works of the Department in the district, the Minister asked the officers and supervisors to discharge their duties, so that no complaints were made against them. ‘Special attention should be given on the quality and transparency of ready-to-eat.’

The Minister asked the Collector to tighten inspection works and see that no slackness is noticed in the implementation of schemes launched for eradication of malnutrition. It was informed in the meeting that 82 groups have been preparing ‘Ready-to-Eat’ meals in the district.

Sahu instructed to take action for immediate removal of the group which is not working properly and against which any complaint regarding quality in the Ready-to-Eat meal preparation had been received.

Collector Himshikhar Gupta said that revenue officers have been directed for continuous inspection of Anganwadi Centres. The Minister, on the occasion, also gathered information about the ‘weighing festival.’

The Collector informed about the distribution of banana, eggs, milk etc to the malnourished children by organising ‘weighing day’ at all hospitals on every Wednesday.

The Minister also directed to pay pending bills of self help groups (SHGs) immediately. Sahu also reviewed the works of Social Welfare Department and directed that no eligible beneficiary should be deprived of pension scheme.

Under the ‘Mukhyamantri Teerath Yatra Yojana’, 2,481 pilgrims in the district had so far been sent to 12 different pilgrimages. The Minister said that this benefit should be given to a person at one time only.
