Girls hailing from families of labourers can now fulfil their dreams of          pursuing higher education with financial assistance under the Chhattisgarh       government's flagship scheme -- Mukhyamantri Noni Sashaktikaran Sahayata Yojana.

Neha, daughter of Chhagan Bai of Gudrupara Mahasamund, is a             beneficiary, an official        communication said on Friday. As part of the scheme, she received Rs 20,000 in her bank account.

She had doubts on            continuing higher education due to the family's weak financial status. Now her dreams will come true.

Another beneficiary, Bhumika, daughter of Bharti Nirmalkar from village Bemcha of Mahasamund district, echoed similar         sentiments. She is set to join a college.

Limdarha of Bharatlal said Rs 20,000 has been deposited in the bank account of his daughter Yogeshwari, who is currently studying in Pirda College. He said he is no more        worried about his daughter’s college education.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on January 26 announced the new scheme, which provides financial assistance,                especially for girls from  families of labourers for their higher education.

The scheme was            envisaged to reduce the dropout of girls from higher education.

Under the scheme, Rs 20,000 is provided for the education, employment,  self-employment and          marriage of the first two daughters of a labourer’s family. The girl’s age should be minimum 18 years and not more than 21 years.

Mahasamund District Labour Officer D.K. Rajpur said Rs 71.20 lakh has been paid directly in the bank accounts of daughters of 356 registered beneficiaries of the district under the scheme.
