Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Friday announced Municipal Council status to Nagar Panchayats Gaurela and Pendra in the newly constituted district of Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi.
Revenue Minister and Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district in-charge Minister Jai Singh Agrawal had briefed the Chief Minister on the sentiments of the people of both the areas, an official statement said after the announcement.
Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee Vice President and Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi in-charge Atal Shrivastava welcomed the announcement.
He said in a statement that those who had been raising about shortcomings in Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi should say why it was not made a district for the last 20 years.
