The death of Gaurang Bobade at Rama Magneto Mall was not murder but a mishap, police claimed here on Monday.
Notably, Gaurang was found dead in the basement of Rama Magneto Mall after he was returning from a party at TDS bar located in Rama Magneto Mall on the intervening night of July 21 and 22 around 2 am.
“Four friends of Gaurang who were with the victim while the incident happened have been arrested ,” Superintendent of Police (SP) Bilaspur Mayank Shrivastava said while addressing a press conference.
According to the police, one of Gaurang’s school time friends Kabir Arora who studies in California, USA had returned home and had thrown the party. About ten youths including the victim had reached TDS bar to attend the party. In the party they consumed liquor and five of them had left early, the SP said.
Karan Kushlani, Ankit Malhotra, Kinshuk Agrawal and Karan Jaiswal were seen with Gaurang for the last time. The lift attendant had also spotted them together while they were going towards basement parking.
According to the SP, the lift attendant had heard loud noise of something falling on ground and had rushed to the spot where he found Gaurang dead and his friends missing.
The lift attendant along with other guards had rushed Gaurang to hospital nearby where doctors had proclaimed him brought dead.
During investigation, police had found a CCTV footage in which Gaurang was seen for the last time jostling with Ankit Malhotra and minutes later he fell down on the basement parking, police said.
Karan Kushlani, Ankit Malhotra, Kinshuk Agrawal and Karan Jaiswal have been arrested and charged with Section 304, 201 and 34 of Indian Penal Code (IPC), the SP said.
