A presentation for selecting Gariaband district under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY) was made before Union Agriculture Secretary at Krishi Bhawan in New Delhi recently.
According to official information, Chhattisgarh Additional Chief Secretary, Agriculture Department Ajay Singh along with Director Agriculture SS Kerketta made the presentation in which Agriculture Secretaries and Director Agriculture from different states took part.
Notably, District Collector Gariaband Niranjan Das had sent the proposal in this connection to the State Government which was forwarded to Delhi.
The proposed cost of the project is Rs2,500 crore that will make available irrigation resources in around 90,000 hectares of land in the district which is otherwise monsoon dependent. If Gariaband is selected, then it would be the first district of the country to be chosen for PMKSY, officials stated.
