Chhattisgarh Police on Thursday seized 675 kg of cannabis valued at `67.50 lakh and arrested a 20-year-old Odisha-based Ganja smuggler in Kabirdham district who was transporting it to Agra.
Kabirdham Superintendent of Police Shalabh Sinha told The Pioneer over telephone that the arrested man was Pramod Kumar Ghosh.
The action followed a tip that the contraband was being transported to Agra in Uttar Pradesh from Odisha via Kabirdham National Highway NH-44, Sinha said.
The police intercepted a truck (AP-07, TW-0457) during checking in the Chilpi police station limits.
The young man admitted he was taking the contraband to Agra, Sinha said.
The cannabis was packed in several gunny bags which were concealed inside a modified chamber by changing the structure of the truck cabin. A mobile phone and the truck were also seized.
