Gandhiji gave dignity to ‘labour’: Baghel

Published on:

Mahatma Gandhiji’s concept was ‘Gram Swaraj’ and he gave dignity to all types of labour, said Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Thursday.

Interacting with the media at the airport, he said: “Gandhiji respected labour. He had given equal position to the farmer, cobbler, weaver, carpenter, blacksmith and all others who made a contribution in the village. Thus, he laid the concept of ‘Gram Swaraj’ with emphasis on self-reliance in villages."

He said the exploiters were on the side of those who had killed him and stood by Godse and Savarkar. At present, there is no respect for labour. The scale of unemployment both in rural and urban areas among youth is high. Inflation is on the rise and farmers are not getting the right price for their produce.

He added that the country would make a turn around once it starts giving dignity to labour.

The Chhattisgarh government through its schemes has given due respect to labour. It is the reason now they have money in their hands.

This is the reason that in Uttar Pradesh the ‘Chhattisgarh Model’ is making an impact, not the ‘Gujarat Model’.
