Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Thursday said freedom fighters have sacrificed their lives like sage Dadhichi to protect the motherland.
Citing the contribution of Padmashree Late Dr. Mahadev Prasad Pandey and social worker Late Narayan Prasad Awasthi, he said Pandey took part in the freedom struggle from age 13 while Awasthi donated land of five villages under his possession for the development of Ayurveda education in Chhattisgarh.
He said this after unveiling the statue of freedom fighter Dr. Pandey and Awasthi at the Government Ayurvedic College in Raipur.
The Chief Minister said Devada was close to his native village and 13 freedom fighters were arrested simultaneously there. At that time, Dr. Pandey, though a minor, strongly resisted the British. Baghel said that when he studied at the Science College, he often heard stories about the charity of Awasthi in the adjacent Ayurvedic College.
