The presence of four tigers has been confirmed in Bhoramdeo Sanctuary of Kabirdham district in Chhattisgarh, officials informed.
The trap cameras installed by Forest Department have captured the pictures of these big cats.
“In separate locations of the sanctuary, we have collected direct evidence suggesting the presence of tigers here,” Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Alok Tiwari said.
According to him, for the past few weeks, the sanctuary was placed under the surveillance of trap cameras, which captured the pictures of four different tigers at separate locations.
Meanwhile, Forest Department officials have been instructed not to foray into the core jungle areas alone that could possibly create unusual circumstances for the tigers or other wild animals.
The tribals living in villages located inside forest have also reported hearing the tiger’s roars. They are now avoiding going into the jungle during the early day hours or late evening.
Notably, Bhoramdeo Sanctuary located between Kanha National Park in Madhya Pradesh and Achanakmar Tiger reserve in Chhattisgarh were identified in 2001. However, the first traces of tigers were reported in year 2005-06 and since then movement of the tigers has been recorded here on several occasions.
According to Forest Department officials, the Rengakhar and Chilfi forest divisions of Bhoramdeo connect it from Kanha National Park and during past years few missing tigers were spotted in these areas.
