In a tragic incident, four persons of a family including two girls of age 7 and 11 years respectively were charred to death after fire engulfed their house on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday, police said.
The incident occurred in a house located at Pitiyajhar under Kotwali police station limits. The head of ill-fated family was a businessman dealing in cooler, fridge and plastic items, Station House Officer Kotwali KK Bajpai informed.
“The fire broke out between 11 pm and 11.30 pm while the family was sleeping in the first floor of the house. Short-circuit or bursting of lPG gas cylinder due to gas leakage could be cause of fire,” the SHO asserted. Good number of plastic made coolers, fridge and other plastic durables were stored in house that acted as fuel to the fire, the SHO added.
The deceased were identified as lalit Chandrakar alias Pappu (40), son of late Gopal Ram Chandrakar, Shaili Chandrakar (36), wife of lait Chandrakar and their daughters Ishika (7) and Geetanjali (11), SHO informed. Bodies have been sent for post mortem and a case has been registered in this connection, police said.
