'Four-lane needed for Raipur-Baloda Bazaar Road'

The Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CGPCC) on Monday apprised Chief Minister Raman Singh about increasing traffic load on the under construction Raipur-Baloda Bazaar Road and demanded to convert it into four-lane.

State Congress General Secretary Girish Devangan in  a statement here said that motorists face huge inconvenience due to snail pace of traffic on the two-lane Raipur-Baloda Bazaar Road road.

He mentioned that as many as seven cement factories, two power plants and many other industrial units are located alongside this road. Not only the people working in the industrial units but hundreds of heavy vehicles transporting goods from these units pass from the same and only road on daily basis.

Though the road is very important in terms of connecting Raipur and Baloda Bazar, at the same time it not only witnesses frequent jams but is also prone to accidents due to lack of space.

“During rainy season, traffic on this road comes to a standstill for many days whenever there is a flood in Kolhan nullah, crossing this road around 21 km from Raipur” added Devangan.

The construction of about 12 km stretch of this road has been completed. Devangan requested the Chief Minister  to convert under construction Raipur-Baloda Bazaar Road into four-lane to ease traffic burden and facilitate the motorists. The road further connects with Sarsincha, Bhatgaon, Sarangarh and Raigarh.
